One Gospel, Heard in Every Language

May 12, 2026, 3:30 PM
About This Event

This July, the Lutheran Leader's Companion will host its first live global event — bringing together Confessional Lutheran leaders from around the world for a shared study of God's Word. Titled "One Gospel, Every Tongue," this three-week course begins with a focus on one of the most foundational moments in the history of language and the Church: Pentecost.

But this event is not only about Pentecost. It is, in many ways, a living reflection of it.

A First Step Into Something New

For the first time, leaders from multiple countries will gather in a single live session where:

The instructor teaches in one language
Participants join from across the globe
Each listener hears and engages in their own language

This is made possible through real-time translation — removing barriers that have long limited global theological learning. What once required multiple interpreters or separate gatherings can now happen simultaneously, in one shared experience.

Why Pentecost?

The focus of this first event is drawn from Acts 2. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit did not eliminate language differences. Instead, he worked through them — ensuring that each person heard the gospel in their own language.

This moment reveals something essential about how God works:

The gospel is not bound to one language
The Word is meant to be heard and understood
The Spirit carries that Word across every barrier

This first session explores that reality in depth, grounding participants in the biblical foundation for multilingual ministry.

The Spirit did not eliminate language differences. He worked through them.

What Participants Will Experience

During the live event:

The teaching will be delivered in the instructor's native language
Participants will select their preferred language
The message will be translated in real time through audio or captions
A global group of leaders will study the same text together

The result is not just access — but shared understanding. Leaders from different nations, cultures, and languages will hear the same gospel, at the same time, in a way they can clearly understand.

More Than a Course

This first event represents more than the beginning of a three-week study. It is the first public expression of a larger vision: a global platform where Lutheran leaders can:

Learn together across languages
Access faithful teaching in their own context
Engage in meaningful theological discussion
Be equipped for ministry in a multilingual world

This aligns directly with the mission of the Lutheran Leader's Companion — to serve leaders with tools, resources, and connections that strengthen the proclamation of the gospel worldwide.

A Continuation of the Church's Mission

Throughout history, the Church has used the tools available to carry the gospel further:

The apostles traveled along Roman roads
The Reformation used the printing press
Modern missions have used radio and digital media

Today, real-time translation becomes another tool in that same mission. It does not replace the work of the Holy Spirit. It serves it — by helping ensure that the Word is heard.

Looking Ahead

This first Pentecost event is only the beginning. In the weeks that follow, the course will move:

From Babel — languages divided
To Pentecost — languages bridged
